If you have a seminar or other event you wish to publicise please post it here rather than starting a new topic for each.

Summer Seminar 09

"Good news for us all in that Nishimoto sensei has confirmed he is allowed to come over this year, on the provision that he visits Iwata sensei twice a month until September! we are looking for a couple of others to come along with him, however names are not yet set... I will update on here as information comes in..."

Good news from Tim.

Whilst the seminar does seem expensive, we have few opportunities to generate new funding to ensure a secure financial future.

I think a good discount for members who are retired or unemployed wound be fair enough.

We seem to see lots of new faces at the summer seminar then nothing of them - I think the summer seminar should be self financing.

It would be nice to do this, however.... right until the last week, we only had 5 UK applications outside the senior instructors (our foreign visitors are always sorted, I guess because they need to book flights etc.)
If I told you how much the hall costs, you'd have a heart attack.... :-)overall costs are pretty horrendous and need covering well before hand.

Next year needs a lot of planning. It is now 15 years since Iwata sensei's first visit, so it would be nice to do something special. We have provisionally booked for the same weekend, although this needs final confirmation which will come in March once the ZNKR calendar is published.
We have four days, same venue, and I will be working on an option at another venue to get a bit more if possible!

We try and raise funds for this throughout the year, so people don't get hit by a big bill... it all depends on what people want, how many sensei, and how many students. I hope this year everyone enjoyed themselves, (although we had a few near disasters, everything seemed to go well!)
For self finance we would need to raise around the £10,000 mark from students, so that's £100 each. Discounts would raise the general price for everyone else, so say £120???
I would like to bring over Iwata sensei's 'top ten' deshi... costs however would make this impractical... you are looking at about £2000 each person for hotel, travel etc.
